We are asking:- "What
are the views tourists have of Southport?"
NEXT week we will be looking at what impressions
tourists have of Southport when they visit. This question has become a huge
issue in the Town's political forum, both within the local and the national
election rhetoric, when talking about in Southport and the local area. Will
this image that the political world sees, and one depict in our photo be
that of tourists or will the have different view? One family we have asked
already, who come from Leeds, told us that:- "We are not shocked to
see that so many shops have closed down, plus we are not surprised to see a
mass of mobile phone shops. It seems to be the case all over the UK.
Southport looks nice, but we are only here for the day, so we can't really
comment." Another family, this time from Birmingham, commented:-
"We are shocked to see how run down the Town now looks. However the people
are still friendly and we also had some fantastic fish and chips from the
