FORMBY churches of all denominations gathered for the annual Good Friday walk of witness. This time they met for the first time for as long as any one who has done the walk can remember, at the library. The procession went past the old starting point, the council offices and into the village. Noticeably there were less young people than normal at the walk, unlike other years when the walk was made up of at least a quarter children and teenagers. One of the few young people there said:-
“I don’t think it is a lack of interest in God and religion, more the fact that it is hot sunny weather and many have gone on holiday.”
The service included a bit about the War in Iraq, but swiftly moved on to the normal proceedings. One of the church goers from St Luke’s Church said:- “It is surprising to see how many people open their shops. They never used to. Also it is equally surprising how many people go to them.”
